Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English and Literature lessons for students in Year 7 to Year 11, aligned with the school's curriculum and academic standards.

• Develop students' proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening, while fostering a strong appreciation for literature.

• Teach a range of literary texts, including novels, poetry, drama and non-fiction, appropriate to students' age and curriculum requirements.

• Design lessons that develop students' critical thinking, analysis, interpretation, communication and creative writing skills.

• Prepare and administer assessments aligned with curriculum requirements and academic standards, providing constructive feedback to support students' progress.

• Foster an inclusive, stimulating and engaging classroom environment that encourages participation, discussion and a love for reading and literature.

• Support and encourage students in developing strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Organise and support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs, literary societies, debating, creative writing and drama activities.

• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, school-wide initiatives and other academic activities.
