Privacy Policy
Ajirika (ajirika.com) · Effective 12 September 2026
Ajirika helps job seekers in Tanzania and across Africa find work: we match you to vacancies, help you build a CV and cover letter for a specific role, send you job alerts, and can submit applications on your behalf. This policy explains exactly what we hold about you, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: name, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read it), phone number, and your WhatsApp number if you provide one.
- Profile: professional headline, summary, skills, work experience, education, certifications, location, country, and optionally date of birth and gender.
- Documents: CVs you upload, and the CVs, cover letters and application emails we generate for you.
- Messages: anything you send us over WhatsApp or through our contact form.
Information we create
- Which jobs we matched you to, and which alerts we sent you.
- Applications submitted through Ajirika, and to which employer.
- Interview practice sessions, salary-negotiation briefings, career-path and reference preparation you request — and their results.
- Subscription, payment and feature-usage records.
- Basic technical logs (IP address, browser, timestamps) kept for security and troubleshooting.
Why we use it
| Purpose | What it relies on |
|---|---|
| Match you to relevant vacancies | Your profile, skills, location and country |
| Generate a CV or cover letter for a specific job | Your profile and the job advert |
| Send job alerts | Your WhatsApp number and alert preferences |
| Apply to a job for you, when you ask | Your name, email, CV and cover letter |
| Run your subscription and count feature usage | Payment and usage records |
| Keep the service secure and working | Technical logs |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your CV to train anyone's AI models.
WhatsApp messages
Job alerts over WhatsApp are opt-in. We only message the number you gave us, and only once you have turned alerts on.
- Reply STOP at any time and we stop immediately. Reply START to turn alerts back on.
- You can also switch alerts off in your profile settings.
- When you message us, we process what you send in order to answer it — for example to build a CV or submit an application.
- WhatsApp is operated by Meta. Your messages pass through Meta's systems and are also subject to Meta's own privacy terms.
AI processing
To write a tailored CV, cover letter, interview preparation or salary briefing, we send the relevant parts of your profile and the job advert to an AI provider — currently Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude). They process it to return the draft and act only on our instructions.
Who we share it with
We share only what each party needs to do its job:
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude) | Generating CVs, cover letters and other AI features |
| Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform) | Delivering and receiving WhatsApp messages |
| Brevo | Sending email — verification, alerts, and your applications |
| Hetzner | Hosting and file storage |
| Mobile-money and card providers | Taking subscription payments |
| Employers you apply to | Receiving your application |
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect Ajirika and its users from fraud, abuse or a security threat.
Employers and recruiters
When you apply for a job through Ajirika, we send that employer your application — your name, contact details, CV and cover letter. We copy the same email to you so you have a record.
Separately, you can make your profile visible to recruiters searching Ajirika for candidates. That setting is yours to turn on or off at any time in your profile. While it is off, recruiters searching our database cannot see you.
Where it is stored
Our servers and file storage are with Hetzner in Germany and Finland. Some of the providers listed above process data outside those countries, so your information may be transferred internationally. We only use providers that commit to protecting it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: while your account is open.
- CVs and generated documents: while your account is open, or until you delete them.
- Application records: kept after deletion of your account only where an employer already holds the application.
- Payment records: retained as long as accounting and tax rules require.
- Undelivered alerts: discarded once delivered or abandoned.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in your profile.
- Delete your account and data — see Data deletion for exactly how, and what happens.
- Stop messaging you — reply STOP on WhatsApp, or turn alerts off in your profile.
- Export your profile and documents.
You can withdraw consent for optional things — WhatsApp alerts, recruiter visibility — without losing your account.
Security
Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Traffic to ajirika.com is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfect, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at once if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
Children
Ajirika is for people old enough to work lawfully in their country. It is not intended for children under 16. If we learn that we hold a child's data, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, tell you directly.
Contact us
The quickest route is our contact form, which reaches the team directly. You can also email privacy@ajirika.com, or reply to any Ajirika WhatsApp message.
