The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (AGENCY) is a Statutory Government Agency established by the ZAMMSA Act No.9 of 2009 and charged with the procurement of medicines and medical supplies, storage of medicines and medical supplies and distribution of medicines and medical supplies to all public facilities in Zambia. The Agency’s responsibility is carried out on behalf of Government, ensuring that essential drugs and medical supplies are available and accessible to the public. ZAMMSA ensures quality and safety of the distributed medical products through strict quality assurance protocols, including inspections and compliance with regulatory requirement.

Main Job Purpose

To safeguard the financial health of the Agency by efficiently managing funds, optimising investments and ensuring sustainable funding in order to procure, store and distribute medicines and medical supplies in a sustainable manner.

Main Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities for this post are but not limited to the following:

• Policy and Strategic Financial Planning

•

Manages the formulation and review of fund management and investment policies, regulations and guidelines in order to provide a framework for prudent fund utilisation and enhance sustainability.

Manages the development and implementation of strategic plans in order to provide a roadmap for financial stability and growth and align financial resources with strategic priorities.

•

Manages the development and implementation of long-term financial strategies, financial analysis and stakeholder engagement in order to ensure that the Agency can continue to fulfil its mission and adapt to changing circumstances.

• Fund Management

•

Manages the budgeting, planning and execution of the Medicines and Medical Supplies Fund in order to ensure transparency, accountability and the optimal use of resources to meet the Agency’s goals.

•

Manages the development of the Agency’s budget in order to ensure that financial resources are allocated efficiently to meet operational needs and strategic goals.
