Job Purpose

The Responsibilities of this role will include but not limited to the following:

• Carry out routine and planned maintenance activities to ensure optimum availability and reliability of plant machinery and equipment.

• Perform planned and ad hoc maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work in accordance with approved job card instructions, engineering drawings and established maintenance procedures.

• Monitor the condition and performance of plant equipment, identify defects or potential failures, and promptly report and escalate issues to prevent further deterioration and unplanned downtime.

• Comply with applicable statutory requirements, health, safety and environmental standards, and Mopani Codes of Practice, particularly those relating to safe working practices and the prevention of injuries and equipment damage.

• Complete all relevant job cards, maintenance reports and other documentation accurately and submit them to the Foreman and Planning Office for recordkeeping and maintenance planning purposes.

• Use available tools, materials, equipment and other section resources prudently to ensure the timely, cost-effective and quality execution of assigned tasks.

• Report work progress, outstanding tasks, delays and resource requirements to the Supervisor for appropriate action.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults, identify the causes of equipment failures and undertake appropriate corrective maintenance within the scope of the role.

• Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and returned to their designated storage areas after use.
