Interventional Cardiologist

The overall purpose of this role is to provide expert cardiac care to in-patient and out-patient cardiac patients, including diagnostic and interventional procedures, in line with established clinical protocols and the hospital’s patient care objectives. The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cardiology cases and drive continuous improvement in cardiac care

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilization and other specialized procedures to provide curative services in line with established protocols;

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care by performing advanced interventional cardiology procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines and governance standards.

• Conduct comprehensive pre-procedural assessments, including patient evaluation, risk stratification, review of investigations and imaging, and appropriate case selection and planning.

• Perform and interpret cardiac investigations, including ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterization studies, to support diagnosis and treatment planning.

• Perform interventional cardiology procedures, including coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and other catheter-based procedures within the scope of practice.

• Manage acute and complex cardiovascular conditions, including acute coronary syndromes, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, and heart failure.

• Provide comprehensive post-procedural care, including monitoring recovery, identifying and managing complications, follow-up, and patient education.
