About this role

The positions are intended to support C-Weed Mwani’s expanding activities in seaweed cultivation, marine resource management, laboratory quality control, R&D, agricultural biostimulants and product development .

Purpose of the position

To support C-Weed Mwani’s development and validation of seaweed-based agricultural biostimulants through scientifically designed plant, soil and field trials.

The person will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating bioassays and bioefficacy trials to determine how biostimulant products affect plant growth, root development, shoot development, crop productivity and plant resilience under different conditions .

This is intended to be a practical plant science + field research + data analysis role.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement laboratory, greenhouse, nursery and field bioassays for biostimulant products.
  • Develop appropriate experimental designs, controls, treatment groups and application
  • Evaluate the effects of biostimulants on plant growth and
  • Monitor and quantify root growth and root
  • Monitor shoot growth, plant height, biomass and other relevant growth
  • Evaluate effects on crop yield and yield-related
  • Assess plant responses to environmental or other controlled stresses where
  • Conduct comparative trials against untreated controls and, where appropriate, existing commercial/reference products.
  • Establish appropriate trial protocols and ensure consistency between
  • Collect accurate experimental and field data at defined
  • Maintain trial records, photographs, measurements and other supporting
  • Analyse and interpret bioefficacy data and identify meaningful treatment
  • Prepare technical reports and communicate trial findings to the R&D
  • Identify suitable crops, application rates, application methods and growth conditions for biostimulant evaluation.
  • Support development and optimization of seaweed-based biostimulant
  • Work with the laboratory team to correlate plant responses with physicochemical characteristics of the biostimulant.
  • Support field demonstrations and farmer trials where
  • Assist in generating scientific evidence to support product claims and future registration/commercialization.
