About Monitech Africa

Monitech Africa is a digital media and technology platform committed to delivering timely, accurate, original, and relevant news and information to audiences in Tanzania and across Africa.

The successful candidates will be responsible for identifying, researching, developing, and producing original, accurate, balanced, and well-researched journalism covering Tanzania, Africa, and major international developments relevant to our audience.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Have above-average fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Hold a university degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field from a recognized institution; OR hold a university degree in another field together with at least a Diploma in Journalism.
  • Have at least three (3) years of professional experience in the media industry.
  • Demonstrate the ability to write accurate, balanced, original, and well-researched news stories and features.
  • Have strong interviewing, research, fact-checking, and verification skills.
  • Be computer literate and comfortable working with digital publishing platforms.
  • Be able to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Additional professional training or further studies related to journalism, digital media, broadcasting, or communication will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The successful candidates will:

  • Research, write, edit, and produce original news stories, features, interviews, and special reports.
  • Produce multimedia content, including text, photographs, audio, video, and other digital formats , for Monitech Africa platforms.
  • Cover breaking news and important developments in Tanzania and across Africa.
  • Work closely with the News Desk and editorial team to identify and develop strong story ideas.
  • Keep the News Editor regularly updated on breaking and developing stories.
  • Conduct interviews and verify information using credible and reliable sources.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts and sources across different sectors.
